I visited Richmond VA for the first time today, where I saw the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Over 30 years old, this 50 acre facility with 16 gardens had the feeling of being very new. Perhaps that was because it is now past the summertime plantings and the ground crews are in the process of removing dead plantings and replacing them with wintertime displays. Many times growing up in the DC area I would travel to Ocean City MD or Rehoboth Beach DE, but I’ve rarely explored the area known as Maryland’s Eastern Shore, that peninsula of land east of the Chesapeake Bay extending south toward Virginia and east to the Atlantic Ocean.
